[The marking at the coming of age is one of the oldest of dwarvish traditions, dating back to the Waking of the Seven Fathers by Aule himself. Thorin will be the one doing the marking, as Kili's stand-in father, while the rest of his family will be there to help with the ceremony.

Breakfast finishes up, and a few minutes later, Thorin enters, clapping Kili on the shoulder and squeezing. There's pride in his voice and in his eyes, and Kili feels something warm rise in his chest.

It's time.

Licking his lips, Kili nods and stands, following Thorin as they make their way to one of Ered Luin's more traditional rooms. He glances to Fili, nervous.]
